The solution is to blame it all on the liberals. This stupid tankie shit is getting really annoying.

Tankies and MAGA-types will never acknowledge or are incapable of comprehending that many “opposing” political and economic philosophies (e.g., socialism, communism, capitalism, republicanism, etc.) are all historically liberal philosophies that find their roots in The Enlightenment.

Authoritarians (i.e., tankies, corporatists, theocrats, fascists, statists, totalitarians, and anyone else who says “I’m in charge forever”) of every stripe are assholes and should rightly be distrusted, ridiculed, and held in deep contempt by anyone who values free inquiry and thought and the principle of “consent of the governed”.

After convincing others that the Democratic candidate isn’t far left enough, justifying accelerationism into collapse.

Make sure that the lesser evil doesn’t win, that way everyone will know that the locus of power resides in the left, and not the right which just won yet another election!

      That’s how it works, right?

This begs the question: what’s the alternative?

If it’s a third party candidate, I have yet to see a candidate popular enough to be competitive in the general election. Voting for a candidate who’s not popular enough to win does not slow the side to fascism.

If it’s some non-electoral alternative, what are you waiting for? Voting for the lesser evil does not prevent you from taking other direct actions.

Macron in France has been elected pretending to be this third party candidate, effectively defeating the two traditional parties (left and right) but it didn’t stop the shift to the right. If anything he paved the way to the far right to win the next cycle. One of his promises was to fight the far right and make it disappear, but in the snap elections this summer he ultimately preferred to govern with the far right’s blessing, even if the left bloc got the most seats. He simply didn’t want a social agenda at all costs.

Bottom line is capitalism ultimately leads to this shift, because redistributing wealth (the obvious solution that even a kid can understand) will never happen.

Yep. Voting for the lesser evil is meant to keep the window open. Allow valid elections to continue, allow advocacy to continue, and hopefully keep more people alive. It’s just buying time. The real work in such a dynamic is not in the election booth, it’s on the streets and in smaller offices.

If anything, this election shows that the meme isn’t happening the way it’s shown. The Dems moved more right than ever, and voters did not show up for them.

Call it what you want, I’ll take good that’s available when great isn’t a viable option. For one example it would mean a chance at rebalancing the courts, but now they’ll be steamrolled and conservative for decades. RIP roe v wade

Don’t worry - the wannabe revolutionaries’ll advocate for firebombing the government whilst safely doing absolutely nothing and enabling the genocide of as many minorities as they can.

It’s the only righteous thing to do, in their eyes.
