Donald Trump has placed himself at further risk of losing control of properties such as his Mar-a-Lago resort following his testimony in the New York civil fraud trial, according to an attorney.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by Mary Trump, niece and frequent critic of the former president, Joe Gallina suggested things “could not have gone worse” for Trump after he answered questions under oath about his financial statements on Monday.
Trump is accused by New York Attorney General Letitia James of filing fraudulent financial records for years which inflated the value of his properties and assets in order to obtain favorable bank loans and tax breaks. Trump denies all wrongdoing in connection to James’ $250 million lawsuit.
Judge Arthur Engoron, who is overseeing the civil trial in New York, has already ruled that Trump had committed fraud by misrepresenting the value of his properties for years. The civil trial is now considering six remaining allegations in James’ lawsuit, as well as the size of the penalty.
Stop edging me. I can’t keep reading these articles without some sort of punishment for the orange blob
I’ve been reading “Trump is gonna be done any day now” articles since he started gaining steam in the 2016 GOP primaries. Fucker’s still free and currently leading the incumbent president in presidential polls.
This shit moves slowly, especially considering the political ramifications.
In other news, I’m getting my kids for Thanksgiving week. 4-years after my ex took them. When we finally got to trial, the judge stomped a mud hole in her ass. 4-years for justice.
tl;dr Hang in there.
Just remember, don’t talk shit about their mom to them. Let them see the reality for themselves. Play the long game like you’ve been doing so far.
Polls that had orange funding, apparently.

Stop edging me.
punishment for the orange blob
I…Is…is that what you call your genitals!? 😂
“My little Trump-et”
I thought I saw another Newsweek headline earlier about how he ‘might not lose his businesses afterall’ and am now about 50/50 on whether all the edging is just setting up to a big ruin.
Newsweek is no longer a reliable source.
https://dianeravitch.net/2020/10/25/the-new-republic-newsweek-has-turned-into-a-zombie-magazine/
Damned sad. When I was a teen, and into my early 20s, I had a Newsweek subscription. Ya know, when they would send a sort of large, thin, glossy book full of the latest news. And it was considered top-notch journalism. Crazy times back then.
Like so many lousy things, Reagan was a part of it. He started destroying the Fairness Doctrine and helped create the Right Wing AM radio empires.
For real, this article is just ‘someone on a podcast said…’
This NY court doesn’t have jurisdiction over his Florida property. It’s like if there’s a massive fine and if he can’t pay it some other way then he might have to sell Mar-a-Lago to pay it.
Don’t get me wrong, I hope the trial ruins him and his turd kids, but that’s a lot of ifs and a weird thing to write an article about.
I miss the days when most of the news was fact based and opinion pieces were clearly marked as such.
Yeah; it just happened to be on my new tab page for work. I miss when Newsweek was actually news. :(
Edit: and I found the source of the clickbaity headline; the article is just talking about the appeal.
He should lose everything.
And he gets to personally hand the keys to the court while it’s live streamed everywhere
Make him take his exwife with him!
Most people would go to prison for fraud…
Yeah, for the scale he’s done, they’d already be in jail. Ditto for the disgraceful court conduct.
However, he’s a former president and is running again. Which hasn’t happened before. Sure they have been governors at least as bad as him* but they were either never caught or never tried to run for president.
*See the Govenor of Virginia that gave Washington the conflicting, illegal orders that started the Seven Years War(aka French Indian war. Who was so openly corrupt the other colonies refused to do business with Virginia because he’d pocket the money.
Should running for office really matter? If you break the law and everybody shrugs at it, that sends a message that the law doesn’t matter, or that it’s a two tiered system, that only applies to us pleebs.
We all know the law is a two tiered system, and we’ve known for a while, but to be so open about it really breaks trust in our institutions, which is the crux of the issue. Institutions are a social contract, and it’s being brazenly broken right now.
Once a social contract is broken, and trust in the system isn’t there, you’re in danger of the whole system collapsing.
Don’t believe me? You can look at the CIA/FBI reports on this very subject. They are seeing the very signs they look for in foreign countries collapse, except they are here happening at home.
Personally, yes, it should. The law should be harsher on them.
Long term it’s probably decaying public trust, short term: no matter the asshole they’ve got people that voted for them.
I’m not too sure that America is even thinking about it’s future anymore and we’ve got a ton of momentum.
It’s a civil trial.
This one is, sure. But, he’s got a number of criminal trials as well.
“Prosecutors say that they’re seeking up to at least $250 million as a verdict.”
Which is it News Week, “up to” or “at least”?

Ooooh! That’s a stylebook burn!
I’d rather see news of something conclusive happening, not speculation. Even if that speculation is based on solid conclusive events.
Trump is crumbling more and more now.
PUT THE FUCKING CHEETO IN JAIL ALREADY
YOU FUCKNUTS TEASE MORE THAN MY EX
The house of cards is coming down on that orange turd!
