minus-squareIngeniousRocks (They/She) @lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·edit-21 day ago~~At 5’8" a BMI of 17 has you at 90 pounds. Being “accustomed” to being dangerously thin just means you’re ignoring the warnign signs that your body is eating itself alive. ~~ Ok that’s on me for trusting random charts in a duck duck go search.

minus-square𝓔𝓶𝓶𝓲𝓮@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·edit-21 day agoYour math is so off, its around 120 pounds Your numbers would mean BMI of like 14 💀 Appreciate the effort I had to do to switch my brain to imperial units because you didn’t want to google it in 5 seconds
minus-squarecally [he/they]@pawb.sociallinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·edit-21 day agoAt 5’8" (1.72m) with a BMI of 17, you would weigh 110.6lb (50.2kg), not 90lb (40.8kg) I don’t know what BMI is dangerous or not, this is just what weight someone would actually be with that height and BMI. math BMI is weight/(height)², with weight in kg and height in meters. Let’s solve for the weight: weight/(1.72)² = 17 weight = 17 * (1.72)² weight = 17 * 2.9584 weight = 50.2928kg ≈ 110.6lb

weight/(1.72)² = 17
weight = 17 * (1.72)²
weight = 17 * 2.9584
