Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) announced Friday that he will strip funding for Ukraine out of a Pentagon spending bill after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) joined conservatives in blocking the legislation from advancing earlier this week.
McCarthy said he would remove the $300 million for Ukraine currently in the Pentagon appropriations bill and hold a separate vote on the funding.
“It would be out and voted on by itself,” McCarthy said when asked about the Ukraine aid in the Pentagon appropriations bill.
The Speaker’s announcement comes one day after a band of five conservatives opposed a procedural vote for the Pentagon appropriations bill, sinking the effort and preventing the legislation from moving forward. It was the second time this week that hard-liners blocked the funding bill from advancing.
Voting against funding for Ukraine is objectively pro-war, specifically pro Russia winning a war of aggression, which will encourage more wars of aggression. You don’t stop wars by kneecapping the victims; you stop them from happening by teaching violent dictators that they will lose.
That seems like pro-war, more working class people dying for the wealthy class.
Peace deals used to be the lefts goto, the US president would have to start the talks before the last Ukrainian is dead.
There is a peace deal on the table. If Russia retreats every single soldier out of Ukraine and recognizes all of Ukraines territory and the borders the war is over. But guess who doesn’t agree with that deal? That’s the only deal that Ukraine should make with Russia. There is nothing to negotiate over, the borders have been drawn and internationally recognized decades ago. Any deal where Russia gets to redraw the borders and go home with spoils of war will only make Russia bolder and ready to invade other former Soviet states.
Golden bridge is needed for a superpower, so they can back down, without losing face in their country.

This will just result in more death for both sides, with no end in site.

Another view is that Russia has improved their military stategy against 21st century technology, while also buildin up their military people and technology from weapons that were taken, provided by the west.

Ukraine has been invaded by a genocidal neighbor. They aren’t dying for “the wealthy class”; they’re fighting to protect their homeland and their families. They’re not even asking for us to risk our lives, only for the the tools they need to defend themselves.

Peace tallks would always be the solution to the problems in the end, when it comes to areas close to superpowers.
Ukraine already is a democracy, being invaded by a dictatorship. We’re not trying to establish one from scratch, as in Afghanistan. A free country is begging for help so it can protect itself. You are siding quite unambiguously with the aggressor.
Peace talks with Russia mean Russia won. It means launching an aggressive war worked. It means Russia will launch another aggressive war. It means China will invade Taiwan. The only peaceful end to this war is with Russia losing and with its complete withdrawal from Ukrainian territory. Anything other than that is not peace but the start of further bloodshed.
Well, I would consider looking at it in a different way.

We on the left have always been about violent armed resistance to authoritarianism and imperialism, of which right now Ukraine is fighting off.
This is the same kind of guy who abuses environmental review laws to delay a developer into giving up construction of a new apartment building because it’s not 100% low-income housing, and then pats himself on the back for helping the poor, all while causing rents to increase. Well, homeless shelters are always proposed to be built in cities, but the homeowners in the area vote them down so they do not lose value, due to homeless shelter nearby.
