I give to politicians I really believe in. Occasionally, I give to nonprofits I support. My biggest gripe about giving is getting put on some stupid mailing list, where they send you junk mail. If I could give without telling them my identity, I would be more likely.

I’m read only on a privacy front end for Reddit and write and read for Lemmy. I figure I can help grow this place by contributing while staying tuned in to things on Reddit. I do hope this place grows, but it seems to have plateau’d.

That he hadn’t been impeached and convicted proves that America’s constitution is now a failure. The founding fathers tried and did okay for ~250 years, but the document does not work anymore.

Agree. LGBTQ and other issues are important, but they are fringe issues. Democrats should be focused on appealing to the average voter, whoever that is by focusing on issues that affect MOST people like wages, healthcare, housing, childcare, labor rights, etc. You only get to take care of the fringes if you have power and that means winning over the non-fringes.

Edit: the downvotes on here are frankly selfish as hell. What’s your response even? No one even has the guts to share, so here is my guess — “My niche political issue impacts 1-5% of the population, but politicians should focus on me. Even if it obviously won’t win an election and will instead usher in even more wins for the far right, politicians should focus on my issues rather than those common to all people. It’s better to sink the entire ship, if I can’t get my wins immediately rather than build a movement that incrementally makes progress.”

Did they monetize it? I don’t remember that really. I think they just redesigned the site abruptly and the user base didn’t like the change and migrated. Anyway, still always liked the community and diggnation. The founder was always a bit less of a dick than spez, despite his flaws.
