It’s such an alien thought process that I don’t even know where I would begin with discussing politics with such a person.

I think the real answer is all of the above. Biden waited too long to drop out, which didn’t give enough time to properly hold a primary. This resulted in Harris being nominated with no way to gauge how popular she would be. She then ran a terrible campaign spending too much time courting moderate Republicans. This resulted in progressives being disillusioned and not voting. Her stance on Israel and Gaza turned away Arab voters who also didn’t vote. All of this combined together to pave the way for a second Trump presidency.
It didn’t grow though. Trump got fewer votes this time than he did in 2020.
If the past is any indicator of the future then we can expect the next four years to be non-stop Trump posting.
It being small might be part of the problem. Reddit has more money to fight legal battles than lemmy.world
Everytime this comes up I think about that Trump supporter who was married to an illegal immigrant and was shocked her husband got deported.
The real problem is that these people get away with it. There are no consequences to their actions. If no one is going to hold them accountable then it’s not just a belief they have, they really are above the law.
I know a number of people who thought the Wii U was an attachment for the Wii and not a separate console so you might be right about the name.
I wonder why e-scooters are banned on Scotland
I imagine what they’re trying to contain are angry Puerto Ricans living in the US from going out and voting. The higher the voter turnout is, the greater the chance of Harris winning. Making Democrats angry enough to actually go out and vote is definitely something the Republicans want to contain.
That’s how I always felt about it. As long as I get paid, I don’t care what they do with the software.
Not sure when things changed but all I know is that when I bought mine years ago the Kobo site redirected me to Walmart and that’s where I had to buy it. My e-reader even displays the Walmart logo on it when I power it off.
Kobo was sold exclusively through Walmart in the US (at least when I bought my Kobo). I think they recently ended the partnership.
I’ve always felt that we support Israel for the same reason we support Ukraine. They’re a friendly military force located in a region of the world where we have enemies. Ukraine helps counter Russia and the same for Israel during the Soviet Union era. Now Israel is a counter to Iran and various terrorist groups.
“It doesn’t really replace proper journalism though”
Yeah, that’s an even bigger problem that doesn’t really have much of a solution. Things like Fediverse might allow for the distribution of news outside the control of corporations but it doesn’t help in actually getting access to unbiased journalism.
That could have just been voyager though. They had replicator rations and a vegetable garden for saving power so it’s possible that the fridge was something they did and wasn’t a standard feature on other starships.
My computer can’t upgrade to Win11 and I am buying a new one, but I’m putting Linux on it.
The joke is so obvious there’s no need to comment on it so others, including myself, are using this as an opportunity to post our opinions on the difference between sci-fi and fantasy.
I would argue that science fiction and fantasy are the same thing and the only difference is the explanation for how all the cool stuff works.
Functionally, there’s no real difference between a portal that takes the characters to another world using a wormhole and one that does it through through magic. Just like how there’s no difference between Vulcans/Klingons/Wookies and Elves/Dwarves/Beastmen. Both are intelligent non-humans.
It would have been an implied “no” because I wouldn’t have even answered the phone.
