For anyone who missed the Southampton match but is planning to watch the replay: the second half is where it’s at. The first half was pretty boring (and frustrating). But the second half was 10 x more exciting.

I’ve been looking over the post-match scores and I have seen a trend that has piqued my interest. The curiosity in question is the scoring for Partey. I think we vote with a certain level of obvious bias xD
I don’t remember what I rated him in all honesty, but I feel like we’ve been carrying the same poor-quality-Partey vibes of the past when he may have had a fairly decent game. This definitely applies to me but, even if he is tidy and has had a pretty decent game, because I’ve not noticed what he has done during the match, I’m usually looking at around 6, which I consider above average for me. I then err on the side of caution and go up one to 7, unless I’ve noticed something specific which could lower it or increase it.
Overall: 5.80 PSG: 6.33
His score in the PSG game is what has stood out to me. I’ve heard some praise for his performance against PSG. It’s not Partey at his best, but closer to the quality we’ve seen before his injuries and one of his better performances of maybe the last 6 months to a year.
Some of his scores would be warranted, such as 5.00 against Brighton and he’s still no where near his best, so we should critique where it’s due, I just found this interesting. I know none of us are experts and we’re just voting with what we think without going through a deep analysis of every tackle, touch of the ball, pass, etc.
Partey also plays in a position that’s hard to rate. And he’s also a suspected sexual assaulter. Kinda hard to be objective about his football with those issues.
Very true and sound criticism. It was just interesting when I think we rate players we like higher even if they don’t have a great game.
Ok I get that it’s funny and all but surely palmer isn’t a decent choice for LB.

Yeah Carsley mentioned it as an option alongside Saka or something

Sounds like he’s trying to cram every decent attacking option on at the same time. Saka can play in that role, but kind of a wasted option.
But, what they play positionally may not how they operate tactically, like Califiori drifting into midfield. So who knows
