Just what the title says. I know New Vegas is the fan favorite (and it’s mine as well), but what do you personally like replaying the most? Is it Fallout 1, with its tight narrative and quick replay value? Is it 2, with its massive expansion on Fallout 1’s formula? Is it 3, with the most atmospheric Wasteland to explore? Is it New Vegas, with the best roleplaying and replayability in the series? Is it Fallout 4, with the best gunplay and survival mode? What are your thoughts?
Fallout 4 because I like building a paramilitary complex, and then meticulously raiding the whole world for supplies, and hoarding them.
Fallout 2 was also fun for that. Clear out and squat a building with lots of storage. Keep coming back after raids, and stash the loot.
You should try A World of Less Pain for New Vegas! Lots of fun if you want to combine the aspects of loot and shoot in 4 with the roleplaying and world of FNV. Another Millenia also adds a bunch of uniques to find.
I enjoy 4 the most even though it is lacking a lot of rpg elements and is just an open world shooter.
Typically Fallout New Vegas but I think that’s because it feels less linear than Fallout 4. I feel like there’s more choice throughout the entirety of the game and because of that (and the lack of essential flagged NPCs) it’s great for challenge runs.
The modding community is also great even now. It has been a few years since I’ve modded a Fallout game and I feel like Fallout 4’s modding community’s overall activity has probably surpassed New Vegas’ since then.
Fallout 4 definitely overtook it for a while, but in the last 2 years or so New Vegas modding had had a bit of a Renaissance! Thanks to NVSE getting picked up again since it was abandoned around 2015, new plug-ins like kNVSE have led to animations being able to be created for each weapon individually, not just weapon category! That led to crossbow and bow mods, huge New weapon animation packs, and more. New Vegas Reloaded adds real shadows, The Living Desert adds more levels of choice and consequence, and Tale of Two Wastelands is better than ever.
If you haven’t modded New Vegas in a few years, I sincerely recommend coming back! I’d argue it surpassed 4 again, at least in the last couple years, with regards to how major the mods are that are at play.
New Vegas. Fallout 4’s story is just so bad I rarely want to play it.
Same, though I compartmentalize 4 in my head as a survival looter shooter and can still enjoy it that way.
New Vegas. i now have this tradition of doing a modded run of the game on a yearly basis, and i am not the type of guy who likes replaying games, so having a game i replay on such a yearly basis is quite something.
I often get fallout 1 and 2 cravings, my personal opinion is there the best fallout games but the I realize they don’t run right on my PC because it’s to old so I just go back to generic fallout 4 or new Vegas what why
Really? I’ve never had any problems with replaying them, especially if I use mods to fix them up.
I’ll probably get beat up a bit over this, but I can’t seem to get away from Fallout76. My buddy and I (several hundred miles away) have yet to find a suitable replacement, so we just keep trudging along.
But in my defense, I have finished all of the others (multiple ways) - Fallout3 was my first introduction to the series.
+1 to New Vegas though (if only it were multi-player)!
Hey, I’ve bought 76 and intend on playing it at some point, so no beatings from me. I kinda hate a lot of what it does with the live service model, but the weapons seem cool.
As far as New Vegas is concerned, I actually think there’s a working multi-player mod! I haven’t tested it myself though.
I probably play Fallout 4 the most just because it’s the newest, but I probably enjoy replaying Fallout 2 the most. It was my introduction to the series and it feels like it holds up even today. I’ve been getting a very similar fix lately with Underrail.
I’m excited for the Fallout 3 Remaster because I see myself enjoying that a lot more than Fallout 4 for scratching the post-Black Isle itch. Unmodded Fallout 4 just feels so empty to me.
I’m about to dive into Underrail myself! And I think a 3 remaster would be cool, but I’d be lying if I pretended I wouldn’t much rather have a New Vegas remaster. Mods come close, though!
That’s fair, I liked New Vegas a lot more than 3. The factions were less pigeonholed and the story was more fun. I also enjoyed the return of content from the original series. I’d honestly be surprised if it didn’t also receive a remaster soon!
Fallout: 4 New Vegas is promising! That’s what I’ve been following passively.
Underrail has totally flown under my radar, until just now. I’m adding it to my Steam wishlist, for a rainy day.
Grab the DLC! Huge expansions.
I kinda like how destitute 3 is.
