I know this isn’t what you asked for but anecdotally my VA experience has been light years ahead of dealing with private healthcare and that’s excluding costs.
I’ve also been burned by community care and try to stay in the system as much as possible as well lol. (For those who don’t know, community care is when the VA refers you to a private healthcare provider)
Columbus OH was great. No notes except that the little dining area was kind of expensive.
Salt Lake UT was so so? I didn’t go there enough, I mostly was relegated to the Odgen UT clinic. I can say that my primary care should have had me in Ortho much sooner.
The worst building so far for a main campus has got to be Poplar Bluff MO. They don’t actually have Ortho beyond a single guy who can give injections.
Marion IL was alright. They have one of the nicest walking paths of any campus I’ve been to. My primary care sucked balls, but Ortho was okay.
I’ve been to a few other places, but that was mostly just visits while traveling.

I’ve been to a bunch of different VA hospitals over the years.
Some were amazing, some were trainwrecks.
But overall, most were good.
I’ve also been burned by community care a few times. Keeping things in the VA system has always worked out best.

Iowa City was pretty great.
Kansas City is still as bad as it was portrayed in Article 99.

I also here that from friends as well!
Not sure how legacy media and such frame it though.
Thanks for the input!
