Survey shows that people who take surveys are okay with giving away information about themselves.

Ok lets be honest here. The average user does not care or know what it actually means to share your data (even if not with an AI), they just want a service that magically works.

There’ll also be a portion of people who are of the opinion they have your search history anyways and its already shared with the AI, just not specifically used for you so you might as well share to get the use out of it.

In the end the amount of people who care enough about their privacy to say no to this is infinitely smaller than the masses who do not care until its too late.

I say this as someone who just allowed any sharing and storing with google cause of convenience just a few months ago who has now taken a huge leap in transitioning to as privacy minded as I can (still working on switching from ecosia browser to floorp and windows to linux, but most of my services like email, maps, navigation etc are already more privacy focussed)

Just use LibreWolf. Why is Floorp even recommended anymore? Last time I heard it was a privacy nightmare

I take this back. I cannot find any proof for this statement apart from some reddit comments bashing it. I do not remember if it was floorp, zen or waterfox that I heard a lot of complaints about regarding privacy so I’ll give Floorp the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry, I take that back. I don’t remember which one out of Floorp or Waterfox I had heard complaints about. I think it should be fine. I still prefer Librewold and Mullvad browser because they follow the TOR browser’s hardening steps.

I chose floorp specifically because it fixes one of my main issues with firefox/librewolf: I can actually change how the UI looks so I don’t absolutely hate it.

May I ask what the privacy nightmare with floorp is? As far as I’ve read they also have the tracking protection and don’t do user tracking

Sorry, I take that back. I have edited the previous comment; I do not remember if it was Floorp or Waterfox or something else that I had heard complaints about. I think Floorp is fine. I prefer LibreWolf and Mullvad browser for the clearnet but my choices shouldn’t dictate what you should use.

Thanks for the update! For sure everybody needs to make their own decisions but more information like if Floorp actually had major privacy issues I didn’t know about could’ve made me change my mind ofc :p
