Motorola (the company whose name and reputation has been well known for decades) no longer exists. Its successor is called Motorola Solutions, and it’s not the company making the upcoming GrapheneOS phone. That device is coming from Motorola Mobility, which is a completely separate company, owned by China’s Lenovo.

They absolutely can. And, since they have the means, the incentive, and no reason to fear repercussions, they probably will. The questions on my mind are how they will affect it, and who will find out.
I hope the hardware and firmware features used by GrapheneOS will become common some day. I think Sony’s Xperia line comes close. Perhaps the GrapheneOS maintainers should talk with them next.
I had been massively burned by empty and dull mission based open world games.
Some “open world” games merely tick the boxes of having a somewhat large area and the ability to traverse it. That alone turns out to be incredibly boring to many of us.
Give me a game world that’s interesting and rewarding to explore. Unique encounters. Unmapped discoveries. Surprising characters. Varied environments. This aspect of an open world is one of the things that Skyrim did fairly well. I wish more game designers would run with the idea.

While the article you linked describes Flock installing cameras without permission from the county, that doesn’t mean they failed to get permission at all. Note that the very first paragraph says the Treasure Island Police Department was their customer, and the bit you quoted implies that the Lake County Sheriff’s Office had previously deployed cameras.
In other words, it looks like Flock did have permission from city agencies, just as I thought. So your claim that Flock installed them without permission appears to be incorrect, at least in those cases. That complicates the issue, and makes arguing for their removal and ban more difficult for the many citizens who want them gone.
(And to be clear, I do want mass surveillance gone.)

6·20 days agoI really want something that’s going to be no-fuss, solid as a rock and that’s simply going to get out of my way.
That would be Debian Stable. I’m using it with KDE Plasma (6.3.6), and am pretty happy with it. (I also applied a few backports for gaming and software development, but that was easy.)
Is there something about newer Plasma versions that you absolutely must have right now, rather than living with 6.3.x until next year?

Actually, never mind. I think I’ll godot instead.
Because despite its name, ICE is no longer about immigration and customs. The Trump administration (and the people behind Project 2025) have appropriated and expanded it into their own private army, circumventing constitutional law for the purpose of turning the USA into a dictatorship.
This is why you might see people comparing ICE to a modern day Gestapo, and part of why many Americans fear that there will be no more elections.
