tl;dr for lemm.ee:

In short, somebody posted a pro-Elon-Musk-doing-a-nazi-salute Valentine’s Day meme and the mods left it up so people started complaining in other communities and the admins realized “you know, we never see reports from our instance’s most controversial community” because the mods were quick to act leaving everything up. So the original salute poster was banned and all the mods were dethroned as the admins are taking a wait-and-see approach on what to do with the community.

I haven’t found a comment about what happened at .world yet but there are zero mods for their community too.

Power tripping mods getting their comeuppance!

      You’re a better person than me. It would be nice to have a spot where people are allowed to pierce the right wing internet bubble without bans, but that will probably drive away the actual reactionaries conservatives.

          I am with you… There is this assumption that all of these people are a certain way but that’s very polarized view in its own right…

          Great a space that welcoming of that discussion with moderation that doesn’t allow threat actors spreading psyop shit.

          If we can coexist with tankies why can’t others join…

      I try to engage with the right as much as possible but the brain rot has escalated to the point where we are living in two different Americas.

      But somebody got to do this hard work.
