The biggest thing I fought with since getting started has been audio. First figuring out how to make an Elgato device cooperate (not exactly the most linux-friendly company to say the least), then setting up virtual sinks and routing everything appropriately, and finally getting my mic to not sound like actual garbage.
Frustrating as hell and a very long process to get all of that working out, but definitely learned a lot from it.
Yeah this is just an AI slop project by the look of it. Realistically I think fluxer is going to be the “winner” when discord does finally implement age verification, and while even that one’s fairly vibecoded, it doesn’t come close to the levels of AI bullshit in this one.

6·20 days agoI’ve been looking at IVPN as well. Nym seems interesting but seems very new and idk if they offer Wireguard configuration files (I don’t think they’re even WG-based? I could be wrong)
I’m sitting on Mullvad for a week to do research into alternatives. Apparently their support team is handing out full refunds far outside their typical policy because of this shitshow, no questions asked. IVPN so far is looking promising, but I don’t know a damn thing about the company and people behind it.

Spoken like a true lib lmao
Electoral politics means nothing when the entire issue is rooted in the very foundations of the country and capitalism as a whole. One dumbass being elected isn’t an anomaly, he’s an inevitable symptom of the problems that have been there for ages.
it’s not just the one dumb motherfucker in charge, it’s practically the entire goddamn government. anyone who isn’t vocally outspoken against AI companies and aiming to put a hard stop to their data centers is fully responsible for any and all harm they’re currently causing (and the hardware inflation is such a minor part of said harm).
anyway abolish capitalism and send techbros to the guillotines
Steep as shit but still somehow cheaper than expected. We love AI bullshit destroying the entire hardware market hell yeah
It’s basically a read-only frontend, mostly meant to enable browsing the site but blocking out all of their tracking etc. You won’t be able to comment or vote or anything, but you can browse and subscribe to subs as “normal” (though it’s cookie-based, so if you clear your browser out you’d need to rebuild it up, unless you’re hosting your own instance in which case you can set your own defaults).
Deleted my account months ago and spun up my own redlib instance behind a VPN container. Definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time.
I did make a new account since but it’s literally just for trying to trade items in a game, I explicitly don’t use it to browse or comment on any thread but my own.
Since we still need to use the official clients with Vaultwarden, I’d say time is running short, even if these changes don’t directly affect it yet. Definitely need some FOSS alternative clients for it.
That’s a big part of why I wanted one. Sure I can just use a laptop or build a small PC (hardware prices today notwithstanding), but the form factor alone is enough of a motivator for me.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•The Cemu Security PSA and Why RetroDECK’s Approach Suddenly Makes a Lot of SenseEnglish
3·2 months agoNot particularly, it works great for what it does, but I much prefer the SRM approach. I don’t want to use a separate launcher for emulation when Steam is right there.

4·2 months agoHonestly the only reason I’ve clung to Emudeck instead of Retrodeck is because it seems so heavily based on ES-DE which I don’t want to use whatsoever. Even their SRM support seems to require favoriting games in ES-DE.

4·2 months agoEh the password stealing shit definitely is but the special conditions for “israel” are hilarious (even if their code is borked and doesn’t actually work)

I can’t speak for banking apps, but GrapheneOS is fully compatible with Android Auto anyway.
