Both Lemmy and Reddit are mostly echo chambers. If you don’t agree with the hive mind, you’re down voted.

Rents went up for several reasons:

1. Lack of housing supply.

2. Increased costs for materials, contractor labor, utilities, increased costs for staffing, etc.

3. increased demand. People lived together during the pandemic and got sick of each other.

Wages have not kept up with everything else.

There’s nothing wrong with that.

It’s been beaten to death why housing costs are up. How many more articles will there be on the same thing?

If you rent at cost or even a little over you’ll go broke. People won’t pay their rent and trash the places. Non-profits are finding out that they can’t even support what they’re trying to do with housing because the actual costs are more than what you think are “at cost”.

So you’d choose senseless violence. Good thing you’re not getting any money.

It’s an extra monthly fee to cover the cost of extra cleaning and repairs needed due to tenants having pets and the damage they cause.

Just ban all cigarettes. They’re not good for anyone.

Maybe this means we need more female detectives.

It’s easier on someone’s ego to blame someone or something else rather than admit they have faults.

Because more and more, people (at least in America) are feeling entitled to get free stuff without contributing to society.

It’s been such a turnaround in attitude. Back in the WWII era, people went all out to support their community and the country. People would help their neighbors when needed. People wouldn’t want to go on welfare unless they had to. Then they worked hard to get off it.

Nowadays it seems that people encourage each other to get government money and don’t want to do anything for themselves. They’ll have children they don’t care about just to get more money from the government. It’s ridiculous.

I’m not talking about people who need a temporary leg up. I’m talking about able bodied people who just don’t feel like contributing to society. Everyone should just give them free money so they can sit home and play video games all day? (For example)

That would be something you’d have to take up with the government. Maybe start local because every state can set different laws.

It’s people who have nothing intelligent to say that resort to petty insults.
