Yeah this is the one I was talking about.
National Energy Bill Relief (Victoria) - https://www.energy.vic.gov.au/households/help-paying-your-energy-bills/energy-bill-relief-fund
Apologies if any of this is sloppily sourced or out of date, I crashed when I got home and am very tired. I’ll try to check it over and absorb some of the information for myself tomorrow.
I just thought to remind people about the rebates and suggest setting up a yearly reminder to check.
VIC
There doesn’t seem to be a Family Energy Rebate for Victoria but there are (more?) solar rebates for apartment dwellers coming https://www.energy.gov.au/news-media/news/more-solar-rebates-victorian-apartment-residents
There’s conflicting info about Seniors discounts, DFFH saying seniors don’t get discounts and compare the market/Selectra saying they can.
(Don’t sleep on the medical cooling if you’re a pensioner. I know you can get that.)
https://www.comparethemarket.com.au/energy/seniors-discounts/
This seems to be for low income Victorians
https://services.dffh.vic.gov.au/utility-relief-grant-scheme
And this is the Energy Bill Relief Fund for 2024 - 2025
Thanks for providing the breakdown that I should have. Lol
I’ll try to do the Victorian one when I get home
I finished my bottle of Cerave gentle face wash. I got a $1.50 bamboo soap dish and have a sensitive Dove bar sitting at the sink to use instead. Not sure how well this is going to go as it could be too drying but it’s worth a shot for the big price difference.
Instead of buying more art supplies I’m making myself use the basic greylead pencils and sketchbooks I already have.
I’m playing old free to play computer games instead of buying or subbing to current ones.
Watching YouTube instead of subscribing to a streaming service.
I’m not sure because I’m the opposite fit and tend to buy anything dirt cheap from big box shops…
That said it might be worth checking out sites like Catch.com.au. I found new wide fit New Balance sneakers at a discount and while that size was out of stock there might be another bargain.
You could also try to find discount codes or sales using Ozbargain?
There’s currently a big markdown on a wide fit pair from a site called Pain Free Aussies so have a poke around their stuff, or you could try orthopaedic or nurses shoes.
If you want to try them on though that’s extremely reasonable. I know Athletes Foot had a machine you could stand on to see where your feet would need support, I’d suggest going there and telling them what your price range is.
Also definitely try adding padded innersoles with boots. I would even stack a couple. The steel Taipans I had years ago were very comfortable though and both acid/heat and slip resistant.
Yeah. So not a good idea
Fuck Colesworth. Having a disability and requiring both generic brands and delivery makes it hard to have other options… but don’t think I haven’t noticed the gouging, or how toothless the recent trust busting measures were.
I don’t know anything from experience but be careful. I heard that in America places like Target will literally wait and let you ‘get away with it’ until it reaches some cumulative amount where they can charge you with a felony.
What an odious woman.
If she’s so concerned about people in poverty I have a few ideas… but that’s just a smokescreen for wanting things that will bolster her own wealth and further her agenda.
That checks out. I’ve had some really bad experiences seeking help.
Denial of care and misdiagnosis seems really common in an underfunded and overstretched public healthcare system and compassion fatigue seems rife.
Australia is also a systemically racist country where indigenous people are denied access or receive substandard healthcare - which can be due to such assumptions.
Children’s liquid Panadol is $23 a bottle at Chemist Warehouse!
Panamax 240 Elixir is $6.
Shop around as it’s cheaper again elsewhere, or buy the 100ml bottle of Panamax Elixir 120mg for under $5.
Dymadon also has similar sized bottles around the $16 mark or tiny bottles around $7 (probably purse sized)
My back door has a weirdly elevated door frame so I can’t even chuck a door snake on it. It has to be a giant rolled up beach towel and still doesn’t work
Nice! I also like having UHT bricks in the cupboard because they don’t go bad during storage.
No judgement here, get that tea
I’ve started knitting some bed socks out of random yarn.
I am a knitter and need to do this once I find some matching yarn
If it’s like that you make the darning larger than the hole (useful for reinforcement) or irregular in shape (useful for spreading out/reducing the strain on the edges)
Deaths of despair and/or social murder! ☝️ (Due to Shit Life Syndrome)
And yeah… India has already been experiencing 50C heat waves
Nah, it was my really poor phrasing. What was being thought was not what got typed
Agreed. It’s not looking good. I also hope against hope that it doesn’t affect meat, eggs and milk supply
Sorry, I meant from human to human and instead said that
My bad
I agree. Probably going to be a repeat of the last time. It worries me because of my immune system and also avian flu can be fatal to cats.
Oo thankyou
