Yeah, and then there’s the follow-up thought that goes, oh yeah, I guess I’m actually privileged to be in this group of people.

techsupport@lemmy.world•[video source vs monitor resolution] Can somebody explain why a 1080p/full HD video can look great on my 42 inch 4K TV screen (no upscaling!)?English
2·7 hours agoThe other person told you the same thing, but basically for every one pixel, it will generate four pixels that are exactly the same as that one pixel would be.
It turns a one by one array into a two by two array.
There’s probably also some tech wizardry going on on the processor in the TV itself that is built in by the manufacturer.

2·7 hours agoThere is still some upscaling going on in the TV.
It would have to upscale, otherwise it would have to leave some pixels blank.
They make charcoal-infused filters.
I bought a box of four and attached them to the outside of my CR filter. That dramatically lowered the stink in my house that comes from the previous owner having dogs and not taking care of them.
I’ve already pulled the old carpet, scrubbed the entire floor, painted over the worst sections with odor blocking stuff, put in vapor barrier and a new hardwood floor, and run an ozone generator in my entire house while I was at work and there is still just like that faint whiff of dog odor in the house that I can’t quite get rid of.
But the charcoal filters on the CR box fan does the trick.

2·9 hours agoI was offered it from a vape pen once, and I gave it a try, and the only thing I really noticed was that two-dimensional images looked three-dimensional, and I felt really warm, and as it faded, it kind of felt like a rush of heat went through my bladder, which made me feel like I needed to pee.
It was interesting, it was over in like three minutes, but I probably wouldn’t do it again unless I was actually going for psychological benefits.
Oh, I just remembered there was one other side effect, which is weird, as like somehow after doing that, I immediately knew I could write with my right hand almost as well as I could with my left hand, and I tried it, and I could, even though it was still weird and awkward, like I was doing difficult math problems in college again.
I feel like if I kept it up I could become fully ambidextrous now.

3·9 hours agoGotta throw in the unnecessarily long title.
“Death killed me in the most horrible ways imaginable across 999 dimensions, but on the 1000th dimension I killed death and became the Destroyer of Worlds but I keep my powers secret and get revenge on everyone that betrayed me”
I already have a spec script in my head, crunchyroll hit me up.

2·2 days agoOne, not remembering the full details of an anecdote that a bit of information triggered off in my brain from a book that I read 10 years ago does not make me a coward, and it’s a pretty cunty thing to call somebody a coward when you don’t know them.
Two, the band’s name was Bomb. The musician that wrote the book is Michael W. Dean. The book is called The $30 Film School.

As far as I’m aware, most states have Romeo and Juliet laws, so like as long as they are less than two years apart, then it’s not a crime either.

52·2 days agoThat is pretty cool, and it is possible that the author of the book was wrong, or had some personal grievance against them.
Even with that, it’s also possible that they’ve changed since then.
I’m not relaying personal information that I have on them. I’m relaying my memory of what I’ve read in a book about a person who had personal information about them.

Maybe they have changed since then. Maybe the person who wrote the book viewed them unfavorably for some reason.
If I remember correctly, the writer was one of the members of the band Bomb, but I do not have the book anymore and I can’t remember which musician it was.

95·3 days agoI was and still am big into the indie movie making scene and there was a book written by a guy whose largest claim to fame was being in a rock band that was shown as a poster in the background of a few frames in the movie Demolition Man.
In the book they talked about working with Chumbawumba on their recording sessions and how Chumbawumba was, as a whole, a bunch of dirty smelly lazy hippies with terrible entitled attitudes that got lucky with the advent of looping.

My best guess would be that Sisyphus spends the rest of eternity wondering whether he rolled the boulder up the hill good enough.
