  • Sex-worker exclusionary radical feminist. TBH not knowing that acronym disqualifies you from discussing the issue.

Does this apply to people who are voluntarily or by force engaged in sex work too? This seems more like academic leftists gatekeeping.

And that doesn’t also apply to call centre employees, youtube hosts, news anchors, whatnot?

Who are at a much lower risk of human trafficking, have access to labor unions and workplace protections…

but so are you when it comes to who picked the coffee you’re drinking.

While not perfect, i buy fair trade coffee, which means at least some level of oversight. And picking coffee under exploitative circumstances is terrible, but a different level than being raped for the entertainment of millions of people, where the recordings remain even decades after, if the exploitation can be stopped.

And the only way to do that, that has actually data behind it and not just “sex work inherently bad” type of ideology, is regulation.

Which is much harder in the digital space and cannot be enforced realistically by Sweden. Even if they would create a certification process and do regular workspace inspections, these could only be enforced inside Sweden. And even that is limited by the trivial ease of using VPNs to claim a different location. So the only option is to prohibit that market.

    Read this.

Earlier you criticized that i provided a source discussion the situation multiple years ago. Now you provide a source that is from the same time and does not address nor distinguish between analog and digital.

There is a fundamental difference between digital and analog. So the criticism needs to distinguish between these two. You gave the example of street workers yourself.

If you criticise the Swedish ban on buying digital sex work, how do you envision to protect digital sex work from human trafficking, provide access to social work and the like? What is the better alternative?

  • I would not go as far that manipulation is the only reasonable explanation. Certainly Israeli lobby groups will have mobilized their people to vote extensively as participation in international events and the image of strong support are crucial for claiming legitimacy. As the article discusses the system of allowing up to 20 votes per number is favoring the ferverous.

There is three considerations from my side that i think need to be cleared:

    1. There is allegations that Israel used targeted ads on social media to encourage people to vote. Imo. this should be banned and lead to disqualification if true, especially as the EBU keeps emphasizing that ESC would be unpolitical. Having a state or state aligned actor push adds for voting is an obvious contradiction. (leaving all the other obvious ones aside for the moment)
    2. It must be laid open, how many “original” votes where cast for each candidate in each country and how many were multiple votes. This mechanism should be tossed out anyways. Someone willing to spend more money does not make his or her vote worth more than anyone elses. There remains the issue of multiple phone numbers per person, but that only gets amplified by allowing 20 votes on each of these phone numbers.
    3. It mus be analyzed if there was direct manipulations and fake votes. If that turns out to be true, that should also be a disqualification and multi year ban for the participating broadcaster. This should be separate from questions of exclusion that should be mandated by the actions of the countries.

The Wikipedia article refers to the decades after legalisation of prostitution. The recent report from 2024 shows that Germany is still behind the EU standards. I don’t know what you mean with “SWERFs”. It is a simple matter of fact that in Germany legalisation of prostitution did not come with proper safeguards and helped enable human trafficking.

Also it remains clear that Germany is still lacking behind EU standards. While it is true that it takes time to implement new standards, the EU processes to establish them take years, so the German governments know about these standards since much longer. There is also no prohibition on implementing these before they become official EU standards.

And this brings us back to the problems with digital sex work. While countries can enforce protections against human trafficking in analog spaces, it is much more difficult in digital spaces. The “onlyfans model” in some other country could have traffickers standing outside the video with a gun pointed at them and there is hardly any way to find out. There is no access for street workers or investigators to talk with the people involved. They could be kept in some basement and never see the light of day and the consumers seem rather willfully ignorant to that possibility. As in the example with the “casting couch” trafficker ring, human trafficking is rather happily ignored by the consumers, who ultimately make themselves complicit in heinous crimes.

Sweden is doing the right thing here. It is impossible to regulate that “market” to prevent human trafficking. Thereby the only option is to shut that market down.

Germany is a European source, point of transit, organization and destination country for women, children, and men subjected to trafficking in persons, specifically forced prostitution and forced labor.[1][2]

The Government of Germany complies with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking, but has not implemented European Union recommendations to reduce sexual slavery.[3] Available statistics indicate the majority of convicted labor and sex trafficking offenders were not required to serve time in prison, raising concerns that punishments were inadequate to deter traffickers.[4] According to Eurostat, during 2022 Germany reported the highest number of victims of all EU countries.

    Page 19, 7 Recommendations:

Despite this important progress, considerable efforts are still needed to implement human rights and European standards in the area of trafficking in human beings. This arises in no small degree from the revisions to the EU Anti-Trafficking Direc- tive, which must be implemented rapidly and in full

The Council of the EU has accepted the Commission’s proposal to extend the temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees until March 2026, including access to the labour market and to housing[1]. As of May 2024, Eurostat[2] reported 4.2 million displaced Ukrainians, mainly in Germany and Poland. According to data provided by the Federal Statistical Office in Germany, 70% of refugees are women, and only 14% of them are in employment. German media and NGOs have recently warned about a high number of ‘very young Ukrainian women’ falling victim to human traffickers and ending up in prostitution rings[3], either on the internet or in brothels, owing to a lack of accommodation and employment. There can be little doubt that this prostitution is not voluntary.

Alarm about the increase in sexual exploitation networks involving Ukrainian refugees, including ‘via online platforms’, had already been raised in November 2022, when Valiant Richey of the OSCE[4], said that the DSA[5] was ‘silent on trafficking in human beings’[6].

  • srael rejected the EU’s move, warning it could complicate efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza. Foreign ministry spokesman Oren Marmorstein said growing international criticism towards Israel would only embolden Hamas in the ongoing negotiations.

“It is also unfortunate that the statement ignores both the American initiative to transfer aid without it reaching Hamas, and the recent Israeli decision to facilitate the entry of aid into Gaza,” Marmorstein added.

Translated: “We are going to kill more people to punish you for not playing ball with us any longer.”

And Germany became a haven for human trafficking and organized rape, which forced prostitution is.

Among other things when Ukrainians started arriving in Germany there were cases of people disguising to help to snatch women and girls and force them into prostitution as the enforcement of protection against human trafficking remains lackluster in Germany.

  • For non Germans: Dobrindt is from the bavarian CSU. The CSU has been meeting with Trumps republicans to learn how to employ MAGA tactics in Europe. They are good buddies with Orban and in the state of Bavaria their coalition partner Freie Wähler (FW) is run by a guy who as a teenager used to bring leaflets to school demanding to reopen the gas chambers for Jews. Dobrindt used to be minister for infrastructure under a previous Merkel government. As all CSU infrastructure ministers he blocked improvements or even maintenance of the railroad and waterway network, pushed the car manufacturer lobbies goals, shoveled billions in infrastructure development to Bavaria and last but not least slowed the development of the energy grid to distribute renewable energy better.

The CSU is trying to always be as far right as to just not get flak from the Mainstream media and they have radicalized themselves drastically.

Just yesterday when the police statistics on politically motivated crime were presented, despite the huge increase in far right crimes, he focused instead on demanding to deport “antisemitic foreigners”.

  • After a procedure has been requested, which can only be done by the federal government, the federal parliament or the state assembly. In all of these the CDU/CSU has a strong position.

So they will just do everything to block it from going to court. CDU/CSU and AfD have a majority in the federal parliament. The government is run by them and in the state assembly votes from the states come from the state governments, where the coalition needs to agree on things for their state votes to be valid.

The only way the procedure moves forward is if enough of the CDU people get a grip on reality and stop helping fascists into power. So far these people are few in between a majority that is eager to prepare everything for the fascist takeover.

  • Trump doesnt like sending soldiers abroad. The “hurr durr Iran ultimate evil” is tiring itself out and when Trump lets the Saudis, UAE and Qatar powder his butt with gold dust, that isn’t perceived well even in the MAGA camp.

Israel wants to drag the US into a war with Iran and watch as American Soldiers are dying, while they can lean back.

What will happen if the first 1.000 kids from the US come back in coffins while Netanyahu or his likeminded friends celebrate how Iran is being handled by the US now?

Trump cannot afford a war. It would join everyone in the US aside from the few war hawk ghouls among Reps and Dems against him.

If Israel strikes Iran, Iran will have to retaliate. Then the US either have to “defend” Israel and get dragged in, or they have to drop them.

Meanwhile the only sensible thing left for Iran to do will be to arm itself nuclearly, so will it be for every country around Israel. This will blow up the Middle East and topple the political influence of the West, as the nations there have to scramble for who will give them access to nuclear technology.

The only reasonable way to prevent all that is to put Israel on a leach, whip it into place if it oversteps and create a reliable non proliferation treaty.
