  • Not only that but I’m pretty sure your average US congress person is so old that they think gamers are playing something that looks like an Atari 2600 but is called a Nintendo Playstation and is almost as popular as the Sony Xbox.

Quite frankly I’m not surprised “Don’t leak your war plans on Signal. Tell ya what let’s just ban WhatsApp for congressmen.” Happened.

American Governments are so tech illiterate that in order to stop internet piracy they once crafted a law called SOPA which effectively banned the internet by forcing a takedown of anything that violated any copyright at all, making no exceptions for fair use such as satire, fan art, or education… a net so incredibly wide that the only website left would have been .govs

Like Wikipedia would have to go because it explains what Spider-Man is and Disney owns that. That’s how strict SOPA was.

Real fucking law that nearly passed and only didn’t because the entire net threw the biggest shitfit in the history of shitfits.

Not only is the average congress person THIS tech inept (which is why watching them try to pull gotchas on Mark Zuckerberg in congressional hearings, something that should be easy as hell, is cringe-inducing)

But America is so blindly loyal to capitalism that corporations are basically writing their own consumer protection laws.

This is a recipe for Congress basically sitting back and doing whatever Microsoft says they should do and ignoring everyone else. Meaning consumer protections on video games is a no go.

  • Well it’s what they tend to be here in Burgerland. The whole “rationalist” movement…

Seriously back on Facebook I couldn’t even say I thought crystals looked pretty without fedoras telling me to “Go win the Randi prize!”… years after it stopped being offered…

As for Muslims… since you asked…

I didn’t really vibe with the Quran when I tried to read it but my experiences with those of the Islamic faith is that they’re good people with good food, who’d like white people to stop blaming them for 9/11 (Which we all know Bush did anyway)

    1. Because I don’t wanna be a grumpy redditor with fingers covered in cheeto dust, jacking off to James Randi and Richard Dawkins arguing over who thinks the Bible is faker and gayer, with no magic to console me about the cruelty of the world, no afterlife to look forward to, stuck with the knowledge that this is all there is ever going to be.

    2. I mean, I don’t want to disbelieve in miracles and mystery, but we live in a society laugh track where God cannot be found. Everyone with magic gets debunked, every study that confirms a supernatural power seems to get slapped with accusations of fraud and “The File Drawer Effect”, and the evidence continues to pile up for a Materialistic view of the universe where nothing is immaterial and everything is ultimately matter or springs up from it…

I don’t want to be an Atheist, but if God’s here I can’t find him.

  • I love the subtle implication that it’s unusual for men to be doctors. It’s almost a “Skinwalker Phrasing”, where you know what they mean, but it sounds off. It sounds like it’s fine on first read, but that’s because you’re associating “Male Doctor” with the phrase “Male Nurse” which makes more sense as while doctor is seen a gender neutral profession, being a nurse while not strictly forbidding men, is along with secretary, nanny, teacher, and stewardess, seen as “Women’s Work” in the patriarchal social structure which most cultures live in. Despite the fact that men do fill those roles all the time.

Well maybe not Nanny sadly, as society with its “Women are victims, Men are predators” mindset eyes any man who volunteers himself in the care of children with suspicion. Something that I, as a transwoman who was falsely accused as a guy, am well aware of.

…I legitimately forgot what the fuck I was talking about when I started babbling about gender roles.

On that note, thankfully I can’t think of any job (outside of US President apparently, seriously Trump is preferrable to any woman? That’s really the precedent we’ve set? What the shit America) that is typically seen as male exclusive. Something I definitely couldn’t say as recently as 20 years ago.
