  • kinda they export capital goods, their corporations behave in imperialist ways sometimes and im sure their capitalist would love to be an empire, however they are not part of or atleast not at the core of the global imperialist capitalist system that exists today they are a victim of it and of organizations like the imf and the world bank not the beneficiaries, and while they export capital goods they do so at about the same rate as brazil and south korea for example countries which no one would refer to as being part of the core. so no

however russia is a settler colonial country and is imperialist in that way and while i get that the problems faced by indigenous people in russia are rather minor compared to countries like the usa or canada its kinda fucked up that most leftits wont even acknowledge this reality.

  • the most decent argument i have heard is that despite the fact that u are the result of some chemicals and stuff in ur brain and the past events u have expirenced and therefore if “god does not play dice” (which like it seems it does and Einstein was wrong cuz some things seem random) then despite the fact that ur decisions and actions are deterministic they are still ur decisions and actions u are still doing what u want to do and deciding what u want, so despite the fact that some theoretical being with perfect knowledge about everything could predict ur actions they would still be ur actions and ur decisions and that technically free will.

  • they have gone back and forth a few times but the current state of affairs is a result of Scotland putting too much money into an attempt to establish an American colony going bankrupt and joining with England for a bailout, they were equal partners in the colonization of Ireland, India and Africa, and the industrial revolution begun in the highlands of Scotland with mills constructed the cheap loans provided by colonialism in India and the opium trade. if u look at the history of the British empire a lot of the people who made the empire u know the generals the colonial governors the bankers the “explorers” were Scottish, and generally Scottish people didnt go to the colonies as bonded laborers like Irish people.

idk it seems kinda tasteless to talk about Scottish “independence” in the context of Ireland while northern Ireland and Wales are still occupied.
