Last I heard, there was a mod team that developed an absolutely gorgeous-looking tech demo of IX, and SquareEnix was receptive, but unwilling to commit the resources needed to adapt a full remake. Now there’s a new song recording that seems to indicate some sort of movement, and the Nvidia thing, but I’ll believe it when I see it while staying cautiously optimistic.

As soon as I realized it was just a music video, I skipped it.
I got rid of Netflix a while ago, so I torrented the new season, but I’m only halfway through and it hasn’t been memorable at all with the one exception of the Close Encounters one.
Is it even questionable at this point whether or not he’s taking strong recommendations from someone whose end goal is to destabilize the US, or even the west as a whole?

After putting down so many JRPGs because they had too much of the J, an FRPG sounds nice. If only I could find a physical copy that wasn’t from a scalper.
I’ve gotten into so many stupid arguments with people about the newer (especially) Final Fantasy games being JRPGs over the years. XVI was agonizing, I couldn’t play more than an hour of XIII, and the only newer one I’ve been able to tolerate is XII. It sucks, because I loved VI and IX.
Very early on with these companies, we started hearing about people who were convicted of crimes because their relatives had used the services and came up in DNA search results despite the fact that they had never committed crimes (not that that makes a difference, but still), and I made a point of never letting my spit rat someone out.
Surprise, fucking surprise that it’s come to even worse shit.

You know when you see someone telling a child “Don’t do that, you’ll get hurt…Don’t do that, you’ll get hurt…Don’t do that, you’ll get hurt…” and then they get hurt? Imagine an adult someone who has aged out of childhood doing that.
Because the point isn’t to benefit people, it’s to scare them so much that they engage in extractive forms of capitalism even if it kills them, and to threaten the rest of us to shape up or prepare to be put through the same process.
The one Playstation game I want right now is $50 but no physical copies are available, and the three games on the horizon are the sorts of things that I can wait to buy used.
Any games for other systems are either competitively-priced on Steam or easy to emulate because they’re distributed by a shitty company that I don’t mind pirating.
I’m not paying $80 for a game.

They were going to do this whether inflation was a factor or not. They come into an area, drive every small business out, and then raise their prices because they have no competitors. It’s been their business strategy for decades, and I’ve watched it happen.
I think their commitment to the West Wingification of American politics and their oligarch donors would have them putting “decorum” above calling for violence no matter what happens.
If they can’t learn from repeated election losses, they aren’t going to learn how to save their country any other way, either.
If no other reason than because they fuck it up constantly. They wrongfully-convict. They ignore evidence in both directions. They fast-track to boost conviction rates. They subject suspects to decades of appeals in barbaric conditions. They use archaic methods of execution. They bungle the executions. They use them as political stunts.
There are plenty of reasons to be against the death penalty, and there are thousands of reasons that the American “justice system” is irreparably broken, but a starting point is that if anyone fucked up their job as often as the “justice system” fucks up its own death penalty, they would be fired for incompetence.
From there, the list goes on. A government that serves its people should be focusing on rehabilitation, not revenge. A government shouldn’t ignore the fact that punishment isn’t a functional deterrent, no matter the scale. A government shouldn’t be able to use a captive population as slave labor.
