Something I’m not seeing here that is absolutely essential is a good flashlight.
Human beings can’t do shit in the dark. Useful for power outages, dark areas, and if gets late. I end up using it more than my knife tbh.

I got a touch-pump soap dispenser for my kitchen. Just put the the sponge on the device, push down, and now you got a soapy sponge. Saves time but I’m old so ymmv.
how do you calibrate a fahrenheit thermometer? With celsius it’s hilariously trivial, if the thermometer says it’s about 0 when you see water freeze, it’s correct enough for everyday use.
You do the exact same but use 32 degrees instead of zero. I know celsius is cool and good but most people seem incapable of understanding how its just fucking marks on a line and any non-sciencey advantage is pretty much null.
It makes more sense for the former unfortunately.
The original theory was that it could have been a pregnant women looking down and that’s what lead to the proportions. The idea was they wouldn’t have been able to see themselves in a river or something. But rivers and puddles, not to mention OTHER pregnant women, were extremely common so it’s less likely.

It’s just better to get used to a baseline level of misery than relying on happiness to get yourself out of a funk.
That said, turn the fucking devices off, get a big fucking cup of herbal tea, and look at the natures for 30 minutes. You are not allowed to press the buttons on the misery-skinner-box until tea is gone and timer is up.

The separating of humans into individual elements, or atoms, such that they’re disconnected from each other.
Basically, breaking the social bonds that once held human society together. A community is very strong, a group of individuals with no connection to each other is weak. What union-busting does to the workplace, atomization does to society at large. Individualism is tangential but not quite the same. Individualism is a sort of ideology that things should be this way. They should be self-reliant and depend on themselves etc etc. Atomization is the state being unable to form meaningful social relationships due to isolation.
It’s more closely related to atomization than individualism.
Pre-1950’s America was still very individualistic but they also had third spaces and more close knit communities. Without meaningful connection, those who are able to hookup achieve a facsimile of intimacy. Those who aren’t able to get that turn to escort services, onlyfans, and patriarchy etc etc. This compounds the problem until society breaks down.
Of course people do have casual sex for just fun just as they did throughout history. But the major shift towards that isn’t because people changed their minds suddenly.
Introverts are the most likely to be lonely tbh. It’s less that they receive energy by being alone but rather that the “social battery” recharges when alone. It has nothing to do with the need of human interaction.
Wanting to make dinner and being physically hungry are two different sensations. I can absolutely be hungry but not have the energy to make dinner. In the same way, I can be in need of social interaction while still not having the drive to go out and do it.
Rookie mistake, they should have said they were forming an economic polycule.
I don’t think you understand that getting some hokey answers when you do an asklemmy thread about the supernatural is par for the course.
My point still stands even if its modified a bit.
It’s only your mind active in this scenario. You might as well just ask to know everything in existence.
Knowing everything in existence is just merging with the universe which isn’t what I want. I want my ego to still exist, even if only temporarily. I don’t want to go from human -> THE ALL, I want to follow the path with the extra time I was given.
I don’t see how you get to the ascension part anyway, you can only absorb the answers you look for, you don’t get time and space to do anything with it.
If I don’t get time and space then it doesn’t matter what I ask anyway as I’d be dead before I got to appreciate the answer. “Oh what’s the secret of the universe?” But then I’m dead before I even get to think about what it means. May as well just ask what’s on TV tomorrow because I wouldn’t get anything from it.
Tell me all the digits in Pi or some other irrational number so that I can get pseudo eternal life.
Since we have a wish-granting entity then that means the supernatural is somewhat real and I use my newfound time as well as the frozen world to learn everything I wanted and possible ascend beyond humanity.
Yeah…he literally put $1400 in your pocket, assuming you’re American, at the beginning of his administration in response to the covid-19 virus.
Trump did it twice, plus Biden promised $2000 and walked that back when he was in office.
Ignoring everything else, Trump pushed for the checks and called on congress to make increases to what was given out. Biden sent out a lower amount than what he promised and then presided over the clusterfuck that was the end of the pandemic.
There’s a good reason for the going for the last one: Opportunity Cost.
If you’re in a situation and have an ability that can only be used once a day, you can never really know if this encounter will be the optimal use. So you hold off on it and thus get less utility. Even if you are regularly using it, having something you can always get utility out of is far more valuable than something that is strong but wasted sometimes.
I hate their unconscious brains but I think their consciousness is okay.
Humans are driven more by unconscious monkey brain then they care to admit. The people they like, hate, and pay attention to are largely unconscious behaviors. In this way, a human in a social setting is pure animal. The personality and ego are mere tools used by the human organism to navigate these social situations.
The human organism is a unconscious, cruel thing that should be abandoned as soon as possible. The egos created from it are okay. But asking them to separate themselves is hard for the trained let alone the layman.
Kissinger’s death primarily.
“Why do I need an espresso machine? Just thrown some grounds in a sock, boil it, and you got coffee.”
Flashlights have more maneuverability and they’re significantly brighter. Trying to use your phone’s flashlight outside is an exercise in futility. Plus I don’t need to worry about my phone’s screen breaking.
