How do you think the world would react to your selection?
Merzbow - Pulse Demon
“what’s new pussycat” 14 times, with “it’s not unusual” thrown in once to give them hope
Beat me to it. I scrolled back just to post this and… Here you are.
“God DAMmit.”
4’33" by John Cage repeated 15 times.
The audience HAS to actively listen to it? Like no talking over it and no interrupting with other noise?
I like this. Finally some peace and quiet.
Ohh yeah, they make one noise and we start again, I want half an hour minimum of silence from everyone, maybe they might look inside themselves and find the good person they’re hiding or I’ll get to not listen to people talk. Win win.
This is it. The day has come. This is my chance to rickroll the entire world in one go.
Ooh! Ooh! Combine this with the John Cage! Play 4’33" fourteen times, then Astley for the 15th track.

Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears repeated 14 times, with 1000 Miles by Vanessa Carlton tossed in once somewhere in the middle.
I imagine they’d feel like they were babysitting their good friend who was blackout drunk but still conscious and who said that “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” was a song that never fails to calm them down. All the while, they’d occasionally remember the feeling that they were doing a good thing by making sure their friend didn’t choke on their own vomit that kept reappearing every hour or so.
I’ll share my favourites for when I need to calm the fuck down:
Island In Video Cassette from the Serial Experiments Lain Cyberia soundtrack
Duvet - Boa
Running Down a Dream - Tom Petty
Trampoline - Shaed
Teardrop - Massive Attack
Bullets - Archive
Lean On - Major Lazer featuring MØ
Human - Rag’n’Bone Man
Brand New Day - Sting
Drop The Game - Flume
Come Talk to Me - Peter Gabriel
Temple of Love - any version, Sisters of Mercy
Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley cover
Under The Bridge - Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Mr E’s Beautiful Blues - Eels
For maximum hair-tearing insufferableness?
Baby Shark x14
My Pal Foot Foot x1
There’s a mall up in Montreal, Canada, playing babyshark on repeat in stairwells to prevent homeless people from staying there. So far it’s been cruelly effective.
Egad, I read about that but forgot. Now that you mention, I’m sure that’s how the idea popped in my head. How awful 😞 Now I almost feel bad for joking about it.
You’re a monster, but I think you knew that. ha

Because I’m currently putting some effort to advance a story I’m working on and I have a playlist for miid setting, that would be it.
And it’s mostly reggae, from the more classical to present day creation.

15 different renditions of Popcorn.
I think you found the solution for world peace.
I remember reading about someone who listened to Popcorn for 24 hours and it had an effect on them.
Was the effect that he eventually popped?
I listen to prog, so it’d be a looong playlist
I’m all for it!
Give us a taste of what would be on your list.
Dream Theater-A Change of Seasons
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard-Crumbling Castle
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer-Karn Evil 9
Alan Parsons Project-Sirius/Eye in the Sky
Van Der Graff Generator-A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers
The Mars Volta-Haunt of Roulette Dares
While generally not considered a “prog band”, I’ll include this one as a bonus just because I had it going through my head the entire time I was compiling this list: Deep Purple-Child In Time
A change of seasons by Dream Theater
15 different versions of Baby Shark that my daughter has on repeat.
I imagine the world would react negatively.
