The first hour, I love that I had to read signs to find out where everything was. It felt pretty immersive.
Then the later hours, I hated it. Akila city, I don’t know where anything is. Give me a map!
I strongly believe all those folks who are like, “I love in Morrowind they don’t tell you directions just go make a right at the big rock” are in the extreme minority.
Akila city is much worse than new Atlantis since it isn’t segmented into sections so you could fast travel to areas. Then I got to Neon and dealt with the Ryujin quest line that basically had me sprint the length of a football field to the other side of the city multiple times before I finished it because there was no fast travel in the city. I upgraded my stamina just for that place lol
And the whole morrowind comparison is BS since they seemed to forget that Morrowind gave you a map and a local map to chart your paths. Please be sure to call out those people for that.
Morrowind style would be you asking a guard “hey wheres the doctor” and they’d say “oh theres a nice place by the mast building and a cheaper spot in the well”. That would be better than what we have now
Boggles my mind, New Atlantis is bad enough, especially the Well is a maze.
Also, anyone done the cryo lab POI yet? Because fuck that place and I hope whoever designed that thing gets bred by a Terrormorph.
Just did that one last night. Cleared it out and was about to head back to my ship when I happened upon the locked room with more chests. I thought I had hit everything.
It does have an exit (the small building with the broken panel) but I’m still not sure if I got everything. But I also didn’t want to go back into all those tunnels. Some rooms had like 7 points of access, which then also connected right to the rooms / corridors next to it too. At some point you get so turned around that you lose all sense of navigation, and then you start running around in circles, repeatedly. Did the same in Sonni De Falco’s estate which I found randomly (Maheo I), when I tried to find the roof access door again (which btw has two more Swimwear, if anyone needs more for their crew uniform).
Sometimes design choices are hard to understand.
We have an automap in the middle ages world but in a distant future there is none. Same with cars/mobility devices.
Kudos to the mod community though.
