    Most people use the service to access streaming content legitimately. On the fringes, however, some users abuse the software to share pirate libraries publicly, a considerable thorn in the side for rightsholders.

    Are pirates really the fringe of Plex users, not the majority? Serious question.

    Already down so can’t easily check but:

    Is this “just” downloading files from one library and re-sharing them in a selfhosted? or is this actually giving people access to the original?

    If the latter? Fuck this with a rusty metal pole. I don’t want to have to be wary that my dirtbag cousin is going to give the entire internet access to my gundams.

    If the former? I… still probably side with this not being great. I actively don’t put anything “personal” in Plex but I know other people have. Which would be really shitty. But even if not, this is basically playing with fire.
