Johnny Bravo’s one of those rare cartoons where you got raw, condensed toxic masculinity in a character - and the entire show he’s just the punching bag and none of us batted an eye because we just immediately accepted that his behavior was dickish and every woman was justified in kicking his ass.
Yeah, it’s satirical, and the comedy is seeing him shut down for his behavior.
So we can agree if it came out today it would be labeled as ‘Woke’
If it came out today, it might hit that sweet spot of being too edgy for liberal parents and too “woke” for conservatives
I was kind of thinking the opposite, because satire goes over a lot of audience’s heads now. He’d be taken out behind the barn like Pepe Le Pew.
Johnny Bravo was such an underrated cartoon
I didn’t have cable growing up, so I associate Johnny Bravo with vacations. Would watch it every time we were back in the hotel.
That would be a line in the Adult Swim reboot of Johnny Bravo.
I wonder if it would even work today.
For one, he’s basically doing an Elvis impression, which was fairly dated even in the 90s. Lol
If growing up with Simpsons taught me anything is that you need to get the reference to like the material.
Tell us about a time you finally got the reference after you saw ‘The Simpsons,’ please.
Too many to count, but the entirety of “Cape Feare” was a good one. I only saw the film the episode was based later on in life. It was one of favourite episodes beforehand and seeing the references only increased my appreciation.
I loved the ‘too many to count!’
C programmers be like
What an absolute, timeless classic 🥹
One of my favorite episodes is the one where Johnny thinks time has stopped for everyone but him.
The funny part is that I can’t tell if you’re joking.
