A friend of mine asked me to help him, he has a strange setup.
His ISP provides him a modem router that acts as DHCP and runs on 192.168.0.X range, the only thing connected to it directly is a USG, which also acts as DHCP, but under 192.168.1.X range.
I was able to connect to unifi.ui.com with a username and password he provided me, I see his site as online with a green dot. When I click to open it, it fails to connect to the controller which is a PC somewhere in the building.
The weird thing is that when I list the site into a list, I can see the WAN address which states 10.84.200.X range, this is a private address yes, but it’s not specified anywhere.
I installed a PC with a newly installed controller on the same account rapidly, just to see. It got listed right under the other site, being online, with 192.168.1.35 has the WAN (the PC IP), when I click on it, it loads it successfully, it loads the dashboard as it should. If I go to devices, I can see the USG along the 3 AP there, all tagged as MANAGED BY OTHER, as it should.
With that same computer, I scan the network with network scanner and it lists me all his devices, wired and wireless, under the 192.168.1.X range, as it should.
So why the original site gives me a weird IP (10.84.200.X range), why it list it as online (green dot) and then fails to open the dashboard ?
FYI : I can’t ping that 10.84.200.X IP
Thanks
