Here is my current network architecture:
- My computer currently has a 2.5gb/s RJ45 network card, with a 10gb/s PCI card on the way.
- My ISP connection is 1.5gb/s instead of the 3gb/sec written on the diagram
- I get a consistently maxed 2.4gb/s iperf result when testing from my computer to my NAS which is also connected to the USW-Aggregation via 10gb DAC, so I know the 10gb connection is “working”
- When I do an ISP speed test from the UDM-SE UI I get 1.3gb/s down and 1.2gb/s up as a result.
- When I do the same speed test from my computer connected via an SFP-RJ45 adapter in the USW-Aggregation I get a speed test of around 400mb/s down and 1.1gb up
- When I swap my computer’s connection to an RJ45 port in the UDM-SE (instead of going through USW) I get a speed test of 950mb/s down and 950mb/s up
- All of these tests were repeated about 10 times over the course of 2 days, both with and without Flow Control enabled
My questions are:
- Is there a reason I am seeing consistently lower download speed test from my computer when plugged into the USW-Aggregation?
- Could there be a conflict of some sort between the 10gb SFP to RJ45 going to a 2.5gb RJ45 port on my computer? Maybe it’s possible this problem goes away once I receive the 10gb card for the computer
- Could there be a setting somewhere that I’m missing on the USW-Aggregation related to the fact that it’s a SFP to RJ45 port? It’s currently set to ‘switching’ instead of ‘aggregation’ which makes sense to me
