Hiya commanders! I havent played since 2018 but recently got back into it, and I’ve been exploring like nuts! I got a thargoid question? Can they show up outside of invaded territories? I was around Ueon, getting back from an expedition and I picked up a lot of nonhuman signals in a star system? I didnt check it out cuz I was in a hurry to get home, and didn’t want to risk loosing 25mil in data

Edit: Nuen! I meant Nuen, dunno where Ueon came from lol

Ah yes! Ive been finding and landing on planets with bio signals and found some mounds at one point. Seems very time consuming to fill out the genetic diversity tho, cuz i only ever seem to find one colony of things.

Definitely don’t want to hoof it. Many use the srv to cover a decent amount of ground and start looking but I prefer getting back in my ship. I do this in a Dolphin so viewing and landing aren’t hard at all. Get in, lift, boost with 0 throttle, and end up plenty far as needed for diversity. But yes, it can be a real pain. For bacteria, I like to land somewhere near the terminator (day/night border) and fly towards the star on the horizon. It seems to help highlight the change in texture. But, still, I do give up entirely sometimes. Especially when I can’t find the 3rd bacteria hit come across some very visible fungi.
