Yes, I shouldn’t have replied hastily and should’ve been clearer. I just meant that I don’t think it’s solely because of Ireland and Malta. After all, they brought Ireland and Maltese upon their accession to the EU. From what I’ve heard, English would be there regardless of those two as it’s too deeply engrained. It’s a moot point anyway, no use for to have brought it up.
Irish and Maltese are their official languages for the purposes of their membership.
