    Read an article way back forget where, that said steam scores are actually not a measure of quality, but of expectation. And while there are definitely other factors, I found it interesting.

    You are likely to get better reviews if you are honest and straightforward with your community, no matter the quality.

      Well that makes sense since marketing’s only job is to build hype, hence expectations, so people buy the stuff. C.f. No Man’s Sky and the resulting disappointment. Or Peter Molyneux’s entire career (pretty much). If you make claims and build expectations then it should be no surprise that you end up being judged on those even more than actual, objectively viewed quality.
