I haven’t had a cocktail for a few days, been on an iced water kick, but today had:
1.5oz tequila claro
.75oz Chinola
.75oz Ancho Reyes
1oz lime
2oz not particularly fizzy tepache
Shaken. Yum. Sat on the porch and relaxed, then an early supper. Have a great weekend!
Water
Ooooh I love a good hard lemonade
I’ll be celebrating the birthday of a Wisconsin friends, so its Wisconsin Old Fashioneds for me.
Is this where they add soda to the drink? I got an Old Fashioned in Milwaukee and they asked me if I wanted it sweet or sour. I was very confused and chose sweet, not knowing what that meant. Ultimately, I was pretty disappointed with the drink I was served.
Yes. Also brandy (Korbel) based instead of whiskey.
Honestly. I wouldn’t put a Wisconsin Old Fashioned and Old Fashioned in the same category. I’m not surprised you were disappointed. Different liquor, different mixer, different balance. Only similarities are the bitters the fruit (although in WI the cherry steals the show).
It’s definitely a nostalgic drink for me. I like it with sour or pressed (soda water instead of soda). It’s the perfect companion to a wood paneled supper club and a well done steak.
This explains a lot, thanks! A crowded bar at a Wisconsin wedding was not the place to ask for more details about the drink.
Un tepachito
I’ll personally be happy about passing finals and will be celebrating with Hornitos. (Purists hate me)
Edit 2: I realize this is a cocktail instance. What do you guys like with your tequila?
Get a grapefruit Jarritos (and a lime, because the soda is so sweet) and make a Paloma.
… So I’m in Australia and jarritos are hard to get and expensive to get when you can. But my local Mexican place sells these ones and Ive had em before and zomg this sounds amazing. Worth the $4.50 a bottle!
Lots of sugar and salt.

Strain over more ice.
This is my baseline.
If I have them, I’ll add 1oz mezcal and 1/2oz agave nectar.
morgenthaler‘s, made with cointreau & a dash of simple. try agave nectar if you can get some.
I’m particular to a more tart margarita, this was the recipe from a restaurant I bartended at for a while, it was a big hit with the BBQ crowd

Having a passion fruit margarita and watching Rebel Moon.
