    That part I’ll argue, he deserves special treatment here only because he is one of a handful of people in the country with round-the-clock Secret Service protection. The court doesn’t need his passport, because the Secret Service can make sure he is available for his hearings. At this point, they are as much there for his handling as his protection.

    He knows it, but also knows that if he ever declines their protection or dismisses them those judges will not be so lenient on him. It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s been an under-the-table deal where the court doesn’t have to take his passport, because the Secret Service has actual possession of it, with no need to publicize it. In fact, has there been any evidence at all that Trump has traveled outside the country since the indictments?
