    A stark demonstration of the ‘spoiler effect’ that emerges in FPTP systems. In theory it can happen that 34% prefer X>Y>Z, 33% prefer Z>Y>X, 33% prefer Y>Z>X; everyone naively votes their first preference and so X wins even though 66% of voters agree X is the worst option and either Y or Z would be preferable.
