True, but you’re not going to get the best out of it with Linux at this point. Asahi makes some sense if you have some older apple hardware already and want to run Linux on it. Buying new Apple hardware to run Linux is not a good idea. I look into it every now and then.

Yeah, I’m still holding out hope for a “convergent” device I can dock and use as a PC. I’ve used Samsung’s DeX a bit, and it’s okay but I really want a Linux phone with something like a high end flagship Snapdragon SOC that gives me a normal Plasma desktop when docked. Samsung was doing Linux on DeX for like, a month or so, then discontinued it.

I suppose it’s true decrypting the files is not so much “circumventing” the encryption as it is… decrypting it, but I think for the purpose of the DMCA it’s the process of “circumventing” Nintendo’s attempt to keep unauthorized people from playing these games that it’s referencing. Encrypting those files is a part of their DRM scheme, so they say undoing it without their authorization violates the law. That’s my understanding of their claim, anyway, and part of the basis for their previous DMCA takedown notices to github. I don’t think this specific claim has ever been tested in court.

It wasn’t clear to me if the philosopher was responding to people saying that being intolerant of Nazis/other types of bigots in the pursuit of tolerance of diverse types of people was contradictory and therefore not morally or ethically sound, or just spontaneous hand-wringing.

I see what you’re saying, but to me it’s not a paradox that needs addressing because to most people it’s obvious that these are qualitatively different kinds of tolerance. To me it feels like a technical gotcha divorced from the obvious intent. I might be assuming too much there.
