  • I have occasional episodes of low blood sugar which cause bradycardia. I don’t know if it’s quite the same for others but for me it’s basically as follows

My body goes into panic mode and I’m borderline dizzy and having a rough time trying to focus on anything

Trying to sit down to do breathing exercises or staring at the phone makes the thoughts race while not being able to latch on to any specific thought in particular

This can last up to 2 hours at times

Takes a while before I manage to put 2 and 2 together and balance my sugar (which in short order gets rid of the bradycardia after about 15 minutes)

  • Oh don’t get me wrong, you’re probably right and I’m not arguing with that.

But also the solution of forcing them to employ actual people locally is a good solution as far as I’m concerned.

Overall I just don’t give a shit about their bottom line and would rather see them go bankrupt than continue to fuck us over while pulling record profits, be it by offshoring or AI.

Same sentiment for grocery stores and the like too

Pay the people who actually live here and they will put that money back into our economy, cuz the other ones certainly will not.

  • The issue is offshoring of jobs.

If you put a disclaimer that “you’ll be speaking with Rajiv in Ontario and AI will be used to lighten accent for clearer communication” I don’t have a problem with that.

But flip that into a “you’ll be speaking with Bob in Nicaragua and AI will be used to lighten accent for clearer communication” and the sentiment suddenly shifts.

Canadian companies should support local labour and create local jobs.

Clear communication is kinda important, but competency is importanter and Canadian jobs are importantest.

No. Mil-spec is an actual certified standard

Military grade is basically just “we made this shit to look like it’d be good as a prop in a movie” no actual standards, just good enough to sorta kinda sometimes work and is made as cheap as possible.

Edit; interesting comment by the other fella in the same reply chain, maybe “military grade” also encompasses stuff that’s made for specific purposes but doesn’t need to withstand rigorous standards, just be good enough for this one thing this one time and not much else

Granted, YMMV depending on country and region.
