  • You can get an PCIe HBA on ebay for $50-60 bucks and will allow you to connect 8 disks to a single system. Look for ones that specifically say they have been flashed to IT mode which will let the host system address the individual drives and enable you to use MDADM for RAID. My “Server” is literally just the old motherboard from my gaming PC with 4x 8TB drives connected to one of those ebay HBAs.

  • Haha, I feel that switch to LTS only releases. I was upgrading to every release in the beginning as well but it started to get old real fast. I run Mint nowdays. In the early days I loved testing new distros and tweaking around with my system, but after over a decade working in tech the last thing I want to do in my free time is have to fix my own computer.

  • I’ve been really enjoying my Time 2. It’s nice to have a smartwatch that I don’t have to constantly think about the battery life on. Literally been getting 2.5 - 3 WEEKS per charge. It’s certainly not for everyone though. It lacks the features of the more mainstream brands like voice calls and NFC payments. It does have a touch screen but none of the software really takes advantage of it yet. That said, my main use case for a smart watch is to simply display phone notifications on my wrist, sleep tracking, and alarms. (and telling the time, of course.) The Time 2 does all of these really well, no complaints!
