  • 50% might prove optimistic. The rules that were bent for SpaceX exist for reasons. The August dump will be 4X the shares already in the wild. You are right, employees would be crazy not to sell at current rates. SpaceX employees are probably smart and/or educated enough to read the white papers on all these science fantasy projects and know they are pure fantasy. Cool stuff to fire up investment bros, but not the kind of thing they want to be tasked with trying to make reality. Point being, the floor for what an employee would not sale is going to be really low. True believers might hold, but anyone who smells the BS or just likes money will gleefully sell at 50% of current.

Meanwhile, China is making great strides in VTVL and much cheaper, open source LLMs. The EU is eager to find home grown or at the least not-American tech solutions. Every headline makes SpaceX look less and less likely to make ANY profits, let alone completely dominate supposedly multi-trillion dollar markets.

  • We ain’t seen nothing yet. In 2-3 weeks the Q2 report will release at which 20% of stocks held by employees will be unlocked, which has hit even profitable and not-fantasy-based companies hard in the past. There will also be a wave of resignations from people who cash out and if that takes key people then investors back off even further. My guess is fElon wants the stock to stay high until next summer when he can sell, but he NEEDS it to stay high until November when early investors can cash out. He has borrowed billions from people you wouldn’t want to owe $1 and been delaying and juggling for a few years with tacking together this SpaceX nonsense amalgamation.

Sadly, this would probably work. The GOP would back it 100%. Democrats would be split between writing a stern letter or welcoming back their dear friend, Mitch. The media will sane wash anything at this point. DOJ would investigate… anyone who said that isn’t Mitch.

  • Ending the clock change is a great idea. The question becomes, do we want to:

Go the permanent daylight saving route. Be an hour off from the rest of the world adding to the stack of weird and arguably stupid things the USA does different so we can have a bit of light after work instead of questioning why we’re working our lives away. Also, drastically increase the number of morning injuries and fatalities, especially among children, as schools will be starting in the dark.

    OR

    Be sane.

    It appears Congress has spoken.

  • In the above video, his decision to attend a protest wearing a beard is beyond dubious. I sure hope he had several independent lawyers weigh in on exactly what he could say and do that won’t violate the court order, because on the surface that seems like begging the judge to throw him in jail. Even if he technically followed the order, the appearance of it is probably enough for the judge to go nuclear.

Most everything leading up to that I could write off as a combination of telling a good story, boundary testing, and shining a light on how absurdly corrupt our criminal Justice System is in operation, but that beard scene has me concerned that Ben just lost whatever ground he had to stand on.

Also, just a plain old idiot. Imagine having the magical power to kill anyone undetected and you’re like “hooray, I can go after local crooks!”. Had Light ever seen a newspaper? Did he know the world outside his city existed? If you aren’t starting with and primarily focusing on people globally known are you even trying?
