Youtube algorithm, its more or less been true that it increases viewcount, hence why channels run for profit will do it.

They do it so they can get clicks from curious kids mindlessly browsing through, it’s easy money if you are willing to sacrifice your self-respect

All the things wrong with LMG, aside, I can tell you it’s just so stupid, but these stupid thumbnails work. It’s unfortunate. But any channel that wants to reach a wider audience, not just a technical audience, those thumbnails work on masses.

I don’t want to believe most of the population is that dumb, but I’m proven wrong more times than I want to admit about how “dumb” an average person is.

Anyone who cares about repairability probably knows what they’re getting themselves into when buying TWS earbuds IMO, double thumbs down to Sony in either case.

ShortCircuit shouldn’t really be taken seriously as it’s almost an ad channel 🤷‍♂️… only reason to watch is for the personalities and very rare wierd tech

It’s anyone taking TT seriously? It’s more of a entertainment channel. It’s the SNL of tech reviewers.

I think many are - to some extent. For many, repairability is not important, they want a good product (spec wise) and if it breaks, they have insurance or warranty. Or worst case they’ll just buy new ones.

It a shitty mindset but a common one. Putting warrenty claims asside, specs still aren’t everything. Look at the coverage of gaming hand helds (switch/steam deck vs Asus ally). Linus thinks windows in this form factor is an advantage to the user experience because specification number goes up.

They are not what the used to be that’s for sure. I rarely watch them and when I do I normally remember why I don’t within a minute. Still hoping the will lift their game but subebed to a lot of other tech channels as they are all better than “how many USB device can you plug into a PC”.

I mean I was in your boat for awhile, but when all the drama happened with LMG, that’s when I unsubbed.

At least their bigger WH models (and the MDR1000X) have replaceable batteries. Sony just tends to stop manufacturing those very quickly, but there are 3rd party ones.

The biggest gripe I have with Sony is their ear pads. They are just so fucking expensive. I wear mine every day because I live in a very noisy neighborhood. The pads are no good anymore after a year or so.

New pads for the WH1000XM5 cost over hundred dollars, last I checked. And they only had black ones available which is really nice when you bought the white model…

Added to that, most of the functionality depends on an app only available for Android and iOS. Have fun trying to adjust your equalizer settings when you’re sitting at a PC.

Also…why can’t I use the most expensive and latest Sony headphone with a Sony PS5? I don’t get it. They want you to buy a different Sony headset if you want to use Bluetooth with the PS5 which is just stupid.

If it wasn’t for their excellent noise cancelling, I wouldn’t buy these things anymore.

As someone with xm4s where the battery went in one a month after the warranty ended yeah don’t get them. Gotta hope I can swap it when the replacement arrives.

Ugh, I have the xm4 and they are a great example of too many features. They sound great! However… I often use them while biking, and any kind of noise control is completely useless. Letting in sound would be great, but the wind noise is deafening. Which means that I cannot use the noise controls anywhere. If I’m on a call it automatically let’s in sound, which cannot be turned off.

Not to mention that they must have been designed specifically to be impossible to hold without dropping them.

And regularly the left one reboots…

I ran my Sony earbuds through the washing machine (not on purpose) and now they don’t work. Any recommendations for a replacement?

Huh? The second title is a statement, not a question: (This is) why you should never buy Sony earphones until they fix the battery defects.
