Is there a possibility that trump has directed so many donations to himself that he has actually taken a substantial bite out of the usual republican donations that keep these local parties alive?
I was wondering just this. I wouldn’t put it past Trump to fundraise based on this: “Minnesota’s Republican party is broke thanks to the socialist Democrats! Contribute today to support make Minnesota great again! Donate in the next 8 hours for 1000x matching!” (In tiny print in the email: “1000x matching only for the first $1 contributed overall. 99% of donations go to a Trump super PAC with the reminder going to the Minnesota GOP.”)
The gift that keeps on grifting
Minnesota’s Republican Party is not only one of the least successful in the country—the state hasn’t gone red in a presidential election in over 50 years—but it might also be the most broke. The Republican Party of Minnesota has just $53.81 cash on hand, with $335,781.36 worth of debt, according to the latest filings with the Federal Election Commission. It is not alone, however, with many other Republican state committees around the country struggling to make ends meet. The Arizona Republican Party has less than $50,000 in the bank, down from the $770,000 it had four years ago. Colorado Republican Party deputy chief of staff Roger Hudson also claims it is bankrupt and being evicted from its office as a result. Most recently, the Michigan Republican Party’s finances caused friction that boiled over into a ball-kicking brawl last week between two peeved party members.
I guess they won’t be so pro-landlord after getting kicked out of their offices…eh who am I kidding
$53 cash on hand? There’s broke college students with higher balanced than that
It feels like a direct line from sanctioning Russia to all the right wing groups being broke.
The party of fiscal responsibility, ladies and gentlemen.
I think we’re going to see in the future is that Trump is superb at is scamming people.
Each and every red dollar not given to the Republicans is likely given to Trump
What do they get out of it? Feeling morally superior. It’s like when people would pay priests ahead of time to bank a few sins they wanted to do.
The fact that the story right below it is about a guy farming loudly at an RFK, Jr event seems fitting.
