    Land of the Dead

hear me out, partly nostalgia bias (I think we had the VHS), but rewatching this several times made me really connect with the zombies. I know it’s not a deep story and often considered a filler spinoff of the series, but I love the slow pacing and not many movies show zombies with character development. this makes me wanna play the game now

Train to Busan. By a mile. Best zombie movie hands down. I’ll die on this hill.

    Honourable mentions:

OG Dawn of the Dead is special and will always hold a top spot.

28 Days Later & 28 Weeks are both top notch.

And I’ll catch heat for this, but World War Z is an excellent zombie movie. And I say that as a fan of the book who is disappointed we didn’t get a faithful adaptation. But if you take the movie as a stand alone, unaffiliated, zombie flick, it’s better than just good.

I love and appreciate the classic Night of the Living Dead, but 28 Days Later is my favorite, followed by Shaun of the Dead.

The Brits make a good zombie movie.

Ooooo, if I sit and think about this one, I’ll be completely unable to settle on a single pick, so I’m just going with my knee jerk reaction. Return of the Living Dead perfectly hits the intersection of comedy and horror that I like out of my zombie media.

The original Dawn of the Dead, with Night of the Living Dead, Braindead, Fido, Reanimator, Black Sheep, and Cemetery Man all being close contenders.
