Definitely but don’t downplay that democrats play dirty too, Bernie got screwed twice or how about the green party. Might be the way the game is played but not very democratic IMHO

True, Bernie got screwed and we’re in a worse place for it. But if we knew the amount of damage that Trump would’ve caused I think a lot more people would’ve voted Democrat.

Sounds like a “both sides” argument. What the democrats did years ago is not really relevant to the current situation.

I think it’s worth keeping the idea of party reform in mind. If fascism is successfully repressed there will be significant changes that are long overdue

Break the two party system by getting states to implement Proportional Representation voting or Ranked Choice voting. I think the PR system in Sweden is very good.

I agree that American democracy has flaws, and I’m not the one downvoting you. But I think saying “it’s already rigged” when talking about foreign interference in elections is counterproductive. At a bare minimum people should try to learn and discuss the issues and vote. To advocate otherwise is to say that we’ve already failed.

It’s not defeatism to point out the reality. If you ignore the reality then you cannot solve the problems.

          It kinda is.

defeatism. noun. de·feat·ism di-ˈfēt-ˌiz-əm. : an attitude of expecting defeat or of accepting defeat with the belief that further effort would be useless.

Voting is the bare minimum of civic engagement in America. There is nothing wrong with pointing out the flaws in the system, but one should be advocating and working towards a solution while doing so. Just letting the mask off fascists win isnt going to solve any of America’s probpems. Thanks for calling out defeatism for what it is!

Why do you think elections are always so close? Why do you think republicans get to fight so dirty while democrats insist on playing by the rules? If you do not address the rotten core of the system, you will be letting the mask off fascists win sooner or later. If anything you’re promoting defeatism by insisting we play by the rules of a crooked system.

That’s like asking how I would address achieving world peace. I talk about the injustices when I see them and do what I can when I see the opportunity.

Where did I say that I’m accepting defeat or that I believe further effort would be useless? In the time it took you to look up that definition and paste it to make your condescending post (as if I don’t know what defeatism is), you could’ve just read and understood my two-sentence post.

The first step in solving a problem is identifying it. If we ignore it then we’ll never solve it.
