Is that just a slip of the tongue, like he meant to say “Let’s stop pedophiles” or “Let’s attacking pedophiles”? This sounds like a Bushism.

I think he meant to say President Trump, and the internal label he uses for Trump came out.
From context, it would seem so, but it’s Ted Cruz, so we’ll never know.
