“Garfield Minus Garfield” creates an existential nightmare. Heathcliff without Heathcliff points out the irrelevance of the title character in his own comic strip. Humor is subjective; I think it’s funny, but I love anti-jokes.

Garfield minus Garfield was all the rage, like, 15 years ago. They even got them printed in a book. Worth checking out, but a little out of the zeitgeist, I guess.

I found their website and read some of the strips, I’d say that some of the edits provide

a satisfactory high level of depression

Jon with a happy face says "It's a beautiful day isn't it?", then looks down, then makes a tired face saying "I'm pathetic"

Jon says "Do you ever get the feeling nobody cares about you?", then proceeds to stand with unamused face for two more frames

Jon standing with an unamused face, then saying "the lost-your-will-to-live phase"

two empty frames, then Jon sitting on a bed crying "I don't think I can take it anymore"

Jon stands on a cliff saying "check out that view", then stands silent, then there's no one on the cliff

              Ha, these are amazing.

Although I suppose I now get why this Heathcliff thing is posted, every day is a lot. Although of course subjective, the majority aren’t funny and after a while we get the message.
